Lowercase Letter Tracing A-Z — Answer Key
Part A: Fill in the Blank
Write the missing word or number on each line.
1. p q r s t u
The /f/ beginning of fox is a breathy sound made by putting your top teeth on your bottom lip, and that sound is written with the tall curly letter f.
2. The letter after w is x.
The alphabet order goes j, k, l, m — so the letter that pops up right after k is l, a single tall straight line.
3. s t u v w x
Unlike n which has only one bump, the letter m is made with two little humps side by side — like two arches lined up in a row.
4. The word nut starts with the letter n.
When you say egg, the first sound you hear is a short /e/ as in eh — and that sound is spelled with the letter e that has a little loop in the middle.
5. The word yak starts with the letter y.
The alphabet goes g, h, i, j, so the letter in front of j is i — and both wear dots on top since they are alphabet neighbors.
6. Fill in: bug (an insect)
The very first sound in red is a growly /r/ like a tiger's rrrr — and that sound is written with the letter r that has a small hook at the top.
7. Fill in: zip (to close a bag)
The letter h starts with a tall straight line on the left, then curves over into a hump — just like a walking cane with its hook at the top.
8. Fill in: web (a spider makes this)
In alphabet order we say a, b, c, d, e — so the letter that follows c is d, which looks like a circle with a tall line on the right side.
9. The letter before v is u.
A yak is a big shaggy animal, and its name begins with a /y/ sound like yo-yo — that sound is spelled with the forked letter y that has a tail below the line.
Part B: Matching
Match each item on the left to the correct answer on the right.
