K-5 Math Worksheets

Math at the K–5 level is the foundation on which all future quantitative reasoning is built. Students begin by learning to recognize and count numbers, understand what quantities mean, and explore the world of shapes and time. From there, the curriculum expands steadily — place value unlocks two- and three-digit arithmetic, multiplication and division replace repeated addition, and fractions grow from simple halves to operations with unlike denominators. By Grade 5, students are working with decimals, applying the order of operations, plotting points on a coordinate plane, and calculating volume. Every concept introduced in kindergarten — number sense, grouping, spatial reasoning — echoes through all five grades, each year adding precision, complexity, and abstraction.

In kindergarten, children count objects, identify 2D shapes, and begin adding and subtracting within 10. Grade 1 introduces place value with tens and ones, extends addition and subtraction to 20, and brings in coins and measurement. Grade 2 formalizes two-digit operations, introduces skip counting, even and odd numbers, and an early look at multiplication. Grade 3 is where multiplication facts 0–10 and division facts take center stage, alongside fractions, area and perimeter, and multi-step word problems. Grade 4 tackles multi-digit multiplication, long division, equivalent fractions, decimals, and geometry concepts like angles and lines of symmetry. Grade 5 completes the journey with fraction multiplication and division, decimal operations, volume, PEMDAS, and coordinate plane graphing — setting students up for middle school math.
