Uppercase Letter Tracing A-Z — Answer Key
Part A: Fill in the Blank
Write the missing word or number on each line.
1. The letter I has one straight line going down.
The uppercase I is made with a single vertical stroke straight down the page. It's the thinnest letter in the alphabet — no curves or bumps, just one tall line.
2. Write the letter that comes after N: O.
Sing "M, N, O, P" and you'll hear O right after N. O is the fifteenth letter, and it looks like a perfect circle.
3. The word Kite starts with the uppercase letter K.
Say the word kite slowly and you'll hear the /k/ sound at the beginning. We write that sound with the capital K when a word starts a sentence.
4. The letter E has three horizontal lines.
The uppercase E has one tall line on the left and three short lines poking out to the right — one at the top, one in the middle, and one at the bottom. That's the only letter built this way.
5. Write the missing letter: A, B, C, D, E.
The letters go in order A, B, C, D, E — so the missing letter between C and E must be D. D is the fourth letter of the alphabet.
6. The uppercase letter Z looks like a zigzag.
The capital Z is drawn with three lines: straight across the top, a diagonal slant down, and straight across the bottom — making a zigzag path. No other letter makes this exact shape.
7. The letter I comes right before J.
Sing "G, H, I, J" and you'll hear I right before J. I is the ninth letter and J is the tenth, so they stand next to each other.
8. Write the letter that comes after R: S.
Sing "Q, R, S, T" and you'll hear S pop up right after R. S is the nineteenth letter, and its shape curves like a snake.
9. The word Queen starts with the letter Q.
Say queen out loud and listen to the first sound — /kw/ — which is spelled with the letter Q. Q almost always has a U right after it, just like in queen.
Part B: Matching
Match each item on the left to the correct answer on the right.
1. Match each item to its correct answer.
A
→ tent shape
circle shape
D
→ half-circle shape
tent shape
O
→ circle shape
cross shape
T
→ cross shape
half-circle shape
Each capital letter has its own special shape to recognize. A looks like a triangle tent, D is a straight line with a curve like half a circle, O is a full round circle, and T has a line across the top that crosses a line going down.
