Uppercase Letter Tracing A-Z — Answer Key
Part A: Fill in the Blank
Write the missing word or number on each line.
1. The letter A has two slanted lines and a bar.
Look at an uppercase A — it has two leaning lines that come together at a point on top, then a crossbar in the middle that connects them. It's the only letter shaped like a pointy tent with a belt.
2. Write the letter that comes after F: G.
Sing "E, F, G, H" and you'll hear G pop up right after F. G is the seventh letter and it has a curvy shape with a little line sticking inward.
3. The word Lion starts with the uppercase letter L.
Say lion out loud — the very first sound is /l/, which is spelled with the letter L. We use a capital L because it's the start of the word.
4. The letter C is shaped like a half moon.
A half moon is a curve that opens on one side, exactly like the capital C — it curls around and opens toward the right. No straight lines, just a smooth hook shape.
5. Write the missing letter: W, X, Y, Z.
The last four letters are W, X, Y, Z — so the missing letter between X and Z is Y. Y is the twenty-fifth letter, just before Z at the end.
6. The uppercase letter P has one bump on the right.
Capital P has one straight line going down on the left and a single rounded bump at the top right. If it had two bumps instead of one, it would be a B.
7. The letter P comes right before Q.
Sing "N, O, P, Q" and you'll hear P right before Q. P is number sixteen and Q is number seventeen, so they stand side by side.
8. Write the letter that comes after U: V.
Sing "T, U, V, W" and you'll hear V right after U. V is the twenty-second letter and its shape looks like the tip of an ice cream cone.
9. The word Nest starts with the letter N.
Say nest slowly — the first sound is /n/, which is spelled with the letter N. Birds build nests, and the word starts with the same sound as "no" and "new."
Part B: Matching
Match each item on the left to the correct answer on the right.
1. Match each item to its correct answer.
B
→ two bumps
two bumps
L
→ right angle line
one curve
S
→ one curve
straight and slant
V
→ straight and slant
right angle line
Picture the shape of each letter: B has two round bumps stacked on the right, L is made of one line going down and one across like a corner of a box, S curves back and forth in a snake shape, and V is two slanted lines meeting at a point.
