Division Facts 0-10 — Answer Key
Part A: Fix the Sentence
Each sentence has an error. Rewrite it correctly on the line.
1. Fix the sentence:
18 ÷ 3 = 5 because 3 groups of 5 is 18.
Corrected: 18 ÷ 3 = 6 because 3 groups of 6 is 18.
The original sentence used 5, but 3 × 5 = 15, not 18. Three groups of 6 give 18, so 18 ÷ 3 = 6 is the correct fact.
2. Fix the sentence:
24 ÷ 6 = 3 because 6 times 3 equals 24.
Corrected: 24 ÷ 6 = 4 because 6 times 4 equals 24.
Six times 3 is only 18, not 24. The right factor is 4 because 6 × 4 = 24, so 24 ÷ 6 = 4.
3. Fix the sentence:
35 ÷ 5 = 6 because 5 groups of 6 is 35.
Corrected: 35 ÷ 5 = 7 because 5 groups of 7 is 35.
Five groups of 6 make 30, which is too small for 35. Five groups of 7 make 35, so 35 ÷ 5 = 7 is correct.
Part B: Fill in the Blank
Write the missing word or number on each line.
1. 20 ÷ 4 = 5
Splitting 20 into 4 equal groups gives 5 in each group, because 4 × 5 = 20.
2. 27 ÷ 9 = 3
Nine times 3 equals 27, so 27 ÷ 9 must equal 3. Division and multiplication are opposite operations.
3. 42 ÷ 7 = 6
Seven times 6 is 42, so dividing 42 back into 7 equal groups gives 6 in each group.
4. 16 ÷ 8 = 2
Eight plus 8 is 16, which means 16 has two equal groups of 8, so 16 ÷ 8 = 2.
Part C: True or False?
Read each statement. Circle True or False.
1. 30 ÷ 5 equals 6.
True False
True. Six groups of 5 make 30, so dividing 30 by 5 gives back 6.
2. Any number divided by 1 equals that same number.
True False
True. Splitting a number into 1 group leaves the whole number in that single group, so the quotient stays the same.
3. 0 ÷ 4 equals 4.
True False
False. Zero divided by 4 means 0 split into 4 equal groups, and each group still holds 0, not 4.
