Multiplication Facts 0-10 — Answer Key
Part A: Fill in the Blank
Write the missing word or number on each line.
1. A box has 3 rows of 6 crayons. Total crayons: 18.
Three rows of six crayons makes an array totaling 3 × 6 = 18 crayons. You can also add 6 + 6 + 6 to reach 18.
2. There are 5 bags with 9 apples each. Total apples: 45.
With 5 bags holding 9 apples each, the total is 5 × 9 = 45 apples. Skip-counting by 9 five times: 9, 18, 27, 36, 45.
3. 4 shelves hold 7 books each. Total books: 28.
Four shelves with seven books on each is 4 × 7 = 28 books. Doubling 14 (which is 2 × 7) gives the same result.
4. An array with 8 rows and 3 columns has 24 items.
An array's total is rows times columns, so 8 × 3 = 24 items. Eight groups of three counted up: 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24.
5. A garden has 6 rows of 8 flowers. Total flowers: 48.
Six rows of eight flowers is 6 × 8 = 48 flowers. You can think of it as 5 × 8 = 40, then add one more row of 8 to get 48.
6. 7 teams of 5 players means 35 players in all.
Seven teams of five players means 7 × 5 = 35 players. Skip-counting by 5 seven times lands on 35.
7. 2 trays hold 9 muffins each. Total muffins: 18.
Two trays with nine muffins on each is 2 × 9 = 18 muffins, the same as doubling 9.
8. An array with 4 rows and 4 columns has 16 items.
A 4 by 4 array has 4 × 4 = 16 items, which is the same as a square number — four rows of four.
9. 10 packs of 3 markers means 30 markers total.
Ten packs of three markers is 10 × 3 = 30 markers, since multiplying by 10 just adds a zero to the 3.
Part B: Matching
Match each item on the left to the correct answer on the right.
1. Match each item to its correct answer.
3 rows of 8
→ 24
20
5 rows of 7
→ 35
35
2 rows of 10
→ 20
36
9 rows of 4
→ 36
24
Each pair multiplies to its match: 3 × 8 = 24, 5 × 7 = 35, 2 × 10 = 20, and 9 × 4 = 36. Lining up rows times columns gives the area of each array.
