Factors and Multiples — Answer Key
Part A: Fill in the Blank
Write the missing word or number on each line.
1. The first five multiples of 7 are 7, 14, 21, 28, and 35.
7 × 5 = 35. Multiples of 7: 7, 14, 21, 28, 35.
2. The least common multiple (LCM) of 4 and 6 is 12.
Multiples of 4: 4, 8, 12... Multiples of 6: 6, 12... First common multiple = 12.
3. A common multiple of 3 and 5 is 15.
15 = 3 × 5, so it is divisible by both 3 and 5. (Other valid answers: 30, 45, etc.)
4. The 8th multiple of 9 is 72.
9 × 8 = 72.
5. The LCM of 6 and 8 is 24.
Multiples of 8: 8, 16, 24... Multiples of 6: 6, 12, 18, 24... LCM = 24.
6. Every multiple of 10 ends in 0.
Multiples of 10: 10, 20, 30, 40... all end in 0.
7. The first common multiple of 4 and 5 is 20.
Multiples of 4: 4, 8, 12, 16, 20... Multiples of 5: 5, 10, 15, 20... LCM = 20.
8. 56 is a multiple of 7 and also a multiple of 8.
56 = 7 × 8, so 56 is a multiple of both 7 and 8.
9. The LCM of 3 and 9 is 9.
Since 9 is a multiple of 3, the LCM of 3 and 9 is simply 9.
