Part A: Fix the Sentence
Each sentence has an error. Rewrite it correctly on the line.

Answer each question in one or two complete sentences.
1. A recipe calls for 3 quarts of water. How many pints is that? Show your work.
Sample answer: There are 2 pints in 1 quart, so 3 × 2 = 6 pints. The recipe needs 6 pints of water.
To convert quarts to pints, multiply by 2 (pints per quart). 3 × 2 = 6 pints.
2. A road is 7 kilometers long. How many meters is that? Explain your reasoning.
Sample answer: There are 1,000 meters in 1 kilometer, so 7 × 1,000 = 7,000 meters. The road is 7,000 meters long.
To convert kilometers to meters, multiply by 1,000. 7 × 1,000 = 7,000 meters.
