Lowercase Letter Tracing A-Z — Answer Key
Part A: Fill in the Blank
Write the missing word or number on each line.
1. The letter a is the first letter of the alphabet.
The alphabet begins with a, so it is the very first letter we say and write.
2. The word net starts with the letter n.
Listen to the first sound in net — /n/. That sound is made by the letter n, so net begins with n.
3. The lowercase letter u has a curve at the bottom.
Lowercase u is shaped like a little cup with a curve along the bottom, the way you hold your hands to catch water.
4. The letter s comes after r in the alphabet.
When we say the alphabet, r is followed by s: q, r, s, t. So s comes right after r.
5. The word van starts with the letter v.
Van begins with the /v/ sound, and that sound is spelled with the letter v.
6. The lowercase letter f looks like a stick with a hook.
Lowercase f stands tall like a stick and curves over at the top like a little hook, just as the clue describes.
7. The letter p comes right before q.
Saying the alphabet in order, p comes just before q: n, o, p, q. So p is the letter right before q.
8. The word wig starts with the letter w.
Wig starts with the /w/ sound at the very beginning, and that sound is written with the letter w.
9. The lowercase letter z is the last letter of the alphabet.
Z is the final letter we say when we sing the alphabet, so it is the last letter of all 26.
Part B: Matching
Match each item on the left to the correct answer on the right.
1. Match each item to its correct answer.
b
→ bat
top
d
→ dot
bat
m
→ mop
mop
t
→ top
dot
Each lowercase letter matches the small word that begins with its sound: b makes the /b/ in bat, d makes the /d/ in dot, m makes the /m/ in mop, and t makes the /t/ in top.
