Part B: Fill in the Missing Number
Write the missing number on each line.
1. You have 8 strawberries. You eat 3. Now you have 5 strawberries.
8 - 3 = 5. After eating 3, you have 5 strawberries left.
2. There are 5 frogs and 5 turtles. Together there are 10 animals.
5 + 5 = 10. Five frogs and five turtles make 10 animals together.
3. A group of 9 oranges and a group of 6 oranges. The bigger group has 3 more.
9 - 6 = 3. The group of 9 has 3 more oranges than the group of 6.
4. The number that is 2 less than 5 is 3.
5 - 2 = 3. Two less than 5 is 3.
5. Count backwards: 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5.
The missing numbers are 8 (between 9 and 7) and 5 (after 6 counting down). The sequence counts back by ones.
