Part A: Fill in the Blank
Write the missing word or number on each line.
1. Write the number that comes after 6: 7.
When we count, 7 comes right after 6: 5, 6, 7. The next number is always one more.
2. Write the number word for 3: three.
The number 3 is spelled 'three.' Every number has a word name and a digit form.
3. How many legs does a dog have? 4.
A dog walks on 4 legs. You can count them: front left, front right, back left, back right!
4. The number between 8 and 10 is 9.
When you count 8, 9, 10, the number 9 is right in the middle between 8 and 10.
5. Write the number for the word five: 5.
The word 'five' stands for the digit 5. You can hold up one hand to show 5 fingers!
6. A clock shows the number 12, but 1 comes first.
On a clock, the numbers start at 1 and go up to 12. So 1 comes first, before all the other numbers.
7. Count to ten. The last number you say is 10.
When you count from 1 to 10, the very last number you say is 10. It is the biggest number from 0 to 10.
8. Write the number that comes before 3: 2.
The number before 3 is 2 because when we count, 2 comes just before 3: 1, 2, 3.
9. How many eyes do you have? 2.
You have 2 eyes, one on each side of your nose. Count them: 1, 2!
