Students fix three tense errors — past context using present tense, a present progressive with a missing -ing, and a future sentence with incorrect past form. Part B has four fill-in-the-blank questions about irregular verbs, the present progressive form, and identifying future tense. Part C has two short-answer questions: distinguishing regular from irregular past tense with examples, and rewriting a sentence in future tense.

Regular versus irregular past tense is the most common source of verb errors at this level.

★ Part A: Fix the Sentence
Each sentence has an error. Rewrite it correctly on the line.

★ Part B: Fill in the Blank
Write the missing word or number on each line.
1) Irregular verbs do not follow the usual rules when forming the past tense.
2) The verb "is running" is an example of the present progressive tense.
3) In the sentence "They will arrive tomorrow," the tense is future.
4) The past tense of the irregular verb "swim" is swam.
★ Part C: Short Answer
Answer each question in one or two complete sentences.
1) What is the difference between a regular and an irregular past tense verb? Give one example of each.
A regular verb adds -ed to form the past tense, like "walked." An irregular verb changes its form, like "go" becoming "went."
2) Rewrite this sentence in the future tense: "The dog chases the ball."
The dog will chase the ball. You add "will" before the base form of the verb to show the future tense.
